1 158

Al-Baqir (peace be upon him) – “Be patient in performing your duties, endure your enemy, and stay connected with your awaited Imam (peace be upon him).”

Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) – “Be patient and endure your enemy who opposes you, stay connected with your Imam, and fear Allah in what He commands and obliges you.

The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) – “Be patient with obedience to Allah and His trials, and endure.” He said: “Adhere to the obedience of the Messenger and those who take his place.” And he said: “Stay connected,” meaning, “Do not part from these two matters.

Points:

This verse advises patience in several stages against various incidents and tribulations;

  • Be patient in the face of personal adversities and desires. “Be patient.”
  • Resist more against the pressures of the infidels. “Persevere.”
  • Strive to preserve geographical borders against enemy assaults, maintain ideological and intellectual boundaries through scholarly discussions, and protect the borders of hearts from the invasion of temptations. “Stand firm.”

The word “stand firm” comes from the root “rabat,” meaning to tie something in a place. Caravanserais are also called rabat because caravans stop there, keeping goods, horses, and camels. Similarly, a heart that is strong and tied to the grace of God is called rabat. The words “connection,” “related,” and “rabat” share a common root.

In traditions, “stand firm” means waiting for the establishment of prayer. It appears that Muslims solidify their hearts and souls with the bond created in prayer.

Messages:

1- In the shadow of faith, you reach perfection. “O you who have believed, be patient and persevere…”

2- Unless you are patient in personal troubles, you cannot resist against the enemies of religion. First “Be patient,” then “Persevere.”

3- Do not fall behind others; if infidels persist in their disbelief, sacrificing lives and spending wealth, you too must steadfastly commit your life and wealth in the way of God. “Persevere.”

4- Muslims must endure each other’s troubles and recommend patience to one another. “Persevere.”

5- Islam is a religion of connection. Connection with people, God, and prophets. “Stand firm.”

6- Patience, perseverance, and standing firm must be directional and align with the path of piety and divine satisfaction; otherwise, infidels also possess these qualities. “Persevere, stand firm, and fear God.”

7- Islam is a comprehensive religion; patience and piety are mentioned alongside attention to boundaries.

“Be patient… Stand firm.”

8- Piety is a higher level than faith. “Believe… and fear God.”

9- Patience is the foundation for achieving happiness and success. “Perhaps you will succeed.”
